So of course when you buy an old house like this, you’re going to get an inspection.
It’s really stuck on there.. It’s such a blank canvas! All that empty space to work with is making me nervous, but I’m slowly gathering my thoughts about how I want it to feel in here..

Most of the furniture (except for that exercise bike!)will be staying for now, but we’ll be adding some curtains, a rug, new bedding, a new light fixture, and some other fun things to make it feel extra comfortable for the next little while until we’re ready to start tearing down (more) walls..In the future, we’re going to do some built-in storage on this wall with some open shelving exposing the brick, but for now just some trim around rough edges of the door way will do the trick..

I started gathering a few supplies recently and I’m pretty excited about where this is going..I have a few different fabrics that I’m considering too for pillows and stuff like that.

I don’t know anything for sure though yet.
I feel like every time I add something or change something, the whole direction and mood of the room changes and then I have to rethink everything.Every time we think we’ve found our next big project, it’s either not really a convenient time (like tearing down a bathroom with a tiny baby in the house), or we think “Well if we’re going to do that project, then we might as well do this one, and that one, and that one over there too.” And then there are those that just sit there for no good reason.
Eek.. Well earlier this Spring, I started really getting the itch to make this living room not make me shudder. So I’ve been slowly tackling it in 10 minute increments when I can get Jack to be happy enough in the Jolly Jumper for a little bit.
It took a long time, but it got the job done! Here’s how the room used to look..
